Le Châble, Switzerland

Many immigrants to Mishicot and the surrounding area came from LeChâble and the Val de Bagnes region of southwestern Switzerland, near the French and Italian borders. Among the family names to be found today in Mishicot that originated in LeChâble are Brouchoud, Cretton and Filliez. This is why there is a sister village relationship between the two communities.

LeChâble is located on the Drance River, in the Canton of Valais and the French speaking region of Switzerland.

As a tourist destination, Le Châble offers its visitors a wide range of outdoor activities, including, hiking, sailing, gliding, fishing and cycling. Skiing, though, is the main attraction, as LeChâble is in the heart of the enormous Four Valleys ski region with its wide-open slopes. But winters in LeChâble are not only limited to downhill skiing, there are also opportunities for both cross country (nordic) skiing and snowboarding.
